Hi, I’m Maaike!

I’m an illustrator based in Utrecht in the Netherlands. From an early age, I loved drawing people in beautiful dresses, with a child’s dream of becoming a fashion designer. My focus shifted for a number of years, but in 2018 I was inspired to buy some high-quality art paper and rediscover my creative side.

Since then, I've taken courses to develop my skills and establish my own style. I particularly enjoy creating portraits, and I get inspired by beautiful tables filled with food, cups, plates, books, coffee, and wine. Daily, I find inspiration in film and photography.

In my latest series, I have paired my portraits and tables together, capturing a unique moment in my characters’ lives. For these, I combine gouache, watercolor, and acrylic paint on high-quality art paper.
